A coalition of business and industry groups is backing Republican Sen. Jim Fannin of Jonesboro for re-election in what the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry’s Bo Staples said is a first-of-its-kind joint endorsement.

In a joint statement, the groups said, “This election cycle is critical and dynamic and we must engage in support of those candidates who will fight for business and job growth in Louisiana. As a business owner, Jim Fannin knows both the joys and the struggles of operating a business and will fight for business owners and citizens across Louisiana.”

Fannin has been a residential and commercial building contractor for more than 30 years and has built three successful businesses. Jim and his wife, Kitty, first opened Fannin Farm Supply back in 1989, which they still operate today.

The coalition of civic and business organizations who announced their joint endorsement of incumbent District 35 Senator Jim Fannin (R-Jonesboro) for his reelection campaign includes:

NORTHPAC, a political action committee for the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI)

LOGPAC, a political action committee of the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA)

ABC Pelican PAC, a political action committee of the Association of Builders & Contractors (ABC) of Louisiana

MC-PAC, a political action committee of the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association (LMOGA)

LAMP, a political action committee of the Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) and the Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance (LCIA)

LHBA PAC, a political action committee of the Louisiana Home Builders Association (LHBA)

The coalition includes the political arms of LABI, the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association, the Association of Builders and Contractors of Louisiana, the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association; the Louisiana Chemical Association, the Louisiana Chemical Industry Alliance; and the Louisiana Home Builders Association.

Staples said it was the first time to his knowledge the groups had come together to issue a joint endorsement.

“These (political action committees) and organizations make their own separate endorsements based on their policy priorities, but when it come to Jim Fannin we’re all on the same page.
